Two exhibitions opening November 6 at GRIMM in Tribeca approach memory from very different directions: one through the overlapping histories of Peru, the other through the strange emotional geography of childhood.

In Clavo torcido no teme martillo (Bent nail fears no hammer), Lima-born artist Arturo Kameya draws on popular imagery, sports, folklore and the political atmosphere of Peru. His paintings and mixed-media works treat memory as a sequence of fragments rather than a tidy record.

British painter Gareth Cadwallader takes the title Goodnight Moon from Margaret Wise Brown’s children’s book. A sequence of nine watercolors considers the movement from childhood to parenthood, and the unease that can lie just beneath familiar bedtime rituals.

Where: GRIMM, 54 White Street, Manhattan. When: November 6, 2026, through January 9, 2027. Gallery information.
