Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band

Jimmy Buffett’s original backing band takes the spotlight in Occupational Hazard: The First Coral Reefers, opening Friday, October 30, for a weeklong run at Village East.

Directed by John H. Cunningham and narrated by Jeff Bridges, the documentary returns to Key West in the 1970s and early 1980s to trace the musicians, friendships, tours and recording sessions behind Buffett’s sound.

According to the film’s publicity announcement, archival footage and interviews with founding band members, tour managers and producers form the account. Kenny Chesney, Mac McAnally and songwriter Keith Sykes also appear.

The 92-minute film will become available digitally on October 30, alongside its New York theatrical engagement. The announcement lists opening-weekend question-and-answer sessions at Village East.

Screening times and tickets are available from Village East.
