Beatriz Zamora, El Negro #82, 1979

Paintings by Beatriz Zamora that her gallery says disappeared from view for nearly four decades will go on display November 6 at Management on East Broadway.

Beatriz Zamora: The Lost Works, running through December 20, brings together paintings from the late 1970s that the Mexican artist took to New York in 1980. According to Management, the works were considered lost after she was denied re-entry to the United States in 1988 and have recently been recovered.

The exhibition includes El Negro #82, a 1979 mixed-media canvas. Since 1977, Zamora has devoted her painting to black, using materials that have included charcoal, obsidian and mineral pigments, the gallery says.

A text by art historian Guillaume Blanc-Marianne accompanies the exhibition. The opening reception takes place November 6 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Management is at 39 E. Broadway, Suite 404. Further information is available from the gallery.
