Lower Manhattan’s waterfront will become an open-air dining room on October 24, when Taste of the Seaport returns with dishes from neighborhood restaurants and a fundraiser for two public schools.
The annual festival, postponed from September because of a nor’easter, runs from noon to 4 p.m. on Piers 16 and 17. More than 50 local businesses and restaurants are taking part, according to the organizers, including Le Gratin, Daniel Boulud’s French restaurant; The Fulton; Sadie’s; Cowgirl Seahorse; and the forthcoming Willett’s.
A $70 tasting card buys six samples. VIP tickets range from $125 to $750. This year’s program will also feature chef demonstrations, with participants from the Paris Cafe, Le Gratin and The Fulton.
Families can visit a free KidZone without buying a tasting card. The South Street Seaport Museum is participating with activities inspired by the old Fulton Fish Market, while its separate Family Day program will offer free admission to museum exhibitions and historic ships.
Ticket proceeds benefit Peck Slip School (PS 343) and Spruce Street School (PS 397), which use festival fundraising to support enrichment and educational programs.
